2008
FLORIDA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
JAGUAR
SERIES EVENT NUMBER 3
|
|
FEBRUARY 9-10, 2008:
|
|
The third event of
the Jaguar Series, the Florida State Championship, offered an
array of sailing conditions. Saturday's conditions were
similar to Chicago (where the World Championships will be held in
June). The wind ranged from 6 to 12 knots with the left side
dominating the first beat. The second race was shortened due
to a front that shifted the breeze almost 180 degrees on the last
leg mixing up the fleet. Doyle boat USA 1373, skippered by
Buddy Cribb, rounded the leeward mark in first but was overtaken
on the last shift by the regatta winner, Bill Hardesty.
Sunday was a post frontal windy day with wind strength between 15
and 25 knots. Another Doyle Boat, Tom Lihan and crew won the
day with a first and second pulling them to seventh overall after
a tough Saturday.
